Get to know tim

Tim has been certified and trained by both American Home Inspectors Training Institute and International Association of Certified Home Inspectors. He attended AHIT Institute in Brookfield, WI in 2017 and attends InterNachi online where he continues to further his education.

Tim grew up learning home maintenance from his father and several mentors. He began working around construction at a young age through his church, missions and working on crews that remodeled and built homes. He has always had a passion for homes, mechanics and helping others; and has applied this passion throughout life. This ultimately led him to join the U.S Coast Guard.

As a USCG Boarding Officer he conducted vessel safety inspections and contraband searches; and as a Deck Department Supervisor, along with the crew, he prepared for and conducted operational inspections daily making sure the vessels were ready for the rigorous roles of service. In addition to the vessels, and daily operational duties, he was also responsible for maintaining the facilities of station. Ships and towboats are basically large more complicated moving homes. They have all the same systems and similar structure plus advanced machinery. Maintenance, proper inspections and documentation are paramount to a healthy ship.

After two enlistments in the USCG, having attained National Mariners Credentials, as a Master of Self Propelled Vessels (Captain) and earning degree in Marine Technology from Western KY T&C College, he went to work on Western Rivers Towboats. He worked the positions of Deckhand, Engineer and Cub Pilot, aboard boats pushing barges of coal, metal, coke and other bulk commodities while maintaining the boats structure and machinery.

Having decided that it was time to settle down and start a family, he began working as a residential and construction layout surveyor. Primarily working in large construction, he learned a lot about proper grading, location, foundations. He now resides in the Gainesville area with his beautiful wife and son, where they have started their latest adventures here in North Georgia.

Tim has a diverse background having worked in several fields, all requiring attention to detail and accuracy.
